  • Overgrown, 2011

The Tree of Life project continues Joseph Klibansky's exploration of nature, harkening back to his acclaimed works like "Garden of Evolution" and "Overgrown" from his groundbreaking "New Urban Wonderland" series, which began in 2008. This series brought Klibansky international recognition and solidified his place in the art world. Now, nearly 15 years later, Klibansky revisits the theme of nature, using the latest digital technologies to craft these fantastical trees.

  • Garden of Evolution, 2012

From the start, Joseph Klibansky has incorporated trees into his artworks, often blending them with bustling city scenes. As early as 2009 Klibansky created “Asia by Night” and later “Overgrown” in 2011 among other work, his vision is clearly visible. Klibansky's goal is to highlight how we are pushing nature aside in our relentless pursuit of expansion. By depicting a utopian vision of metropolitan cities coexisting harmoniously with nature, he aims to raise awareness and provoke thought in the viewer.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What is Tree of Life?

"Tree of Life" is the title of Joseph Klibansky's art exhibition held at Scorpios Mykonos as part of their Encounters art program. For this exhibition, Joseph Klibansky created 1,000 unique "Dream Trees," revisiting a theme from his earlier works inspired by nature.

This body of work will be celebrated during the exhibition's opening from June 18th to 21st at Scorpios Mykonos. A highlight of the event will be a 5-meter tall cubed LED screen showcasing an animation of one of the thousand Dream Trees. The sale of the physical prints will commence during the exhibition.

How can I buy a print?

To purchase your dream tree print, click on one of the "Buy Now" buttons on this website.

Even though you are purchasing via our website, you are purchasing from Kreation Technologies our technology partner and Scorpios Collect, to which we have licensed the rights for this project.

Kreation Technologies terms of service apply.

What does the purchase price include?

The purchase price includes a unique giclée print of your dream tree, personally signed and numbered by the artist. Additionally, the print will be carefully packaged and shipped to the address you provide, with all shipping costs covered by the purchase price.

Next to the physical print, every collector of a print will receive a complimentary NFT that served as a digital companion and a certificate of authenticity on the Ethereum blockchain.

Please note that while shipping costs are included, any other third-party costs, such as taxes, network fees, or transaction fees, are not included in the purchase price.

What is a digital companion (NFT)

An NFT, or Non-Fungible Token, is like a digital certificate that proves you own something unique on the internet, such as art, music, or videos. Unlike regular money or cryptocurrencies, each NFT is one-of-a-kind and can't be exchanged on a one-to-one basis because every NFT has a unique ID. It's a way to own and trade digital items securely, using blockchain technology to verify ownership.

In this case the NFT points to a digital image file of your Tree of Life artwork.

The one who holds the NFT in their crypto wallet owns the NFT. You can send, sell or trade your NFT.

Trading NFTs involves buying and selling these unique digital assets on various online marketplaces. A popular NFT marketplace is https://opensea.io. Each NFT has its own value, often influenced by factors like its rarity, creator (artist) reputation, and demand. Transactions are recorded on the blockchain, ensuring transparency and security. NFT trading has gained significant popularity, with some high-profile sales reaching millions of dollars, but it also carries risks due to market volatility.

When and how will I receive my NFT?

Since we are not directly interacting with the block chain via this website, we will reserve your Tree of Life ID number after purchase. A number of days after the sale, we will contact you. There are a number of technical ways you can receive your NFT. One is via the company crossmint which will generate a wallet address for you associated with you email address holding you NFT. The other is via an airdrop after you have provided us with your wallet address.

When will I receive the artwork?

We will begin producing all fine art prints one week after the sale has closed. Once production is complete, we will carefully prepare them for shipping. This process ensures that each print meets our high-quality standards and is ready for safe delivery to your provided address.

It takes a number of weeks to produce all 1000 prints. After they have all been printed we will start packaging them in batches. The shipping will also commence in batches.

You will be notified as soon as your print has left the studio.

How does the print arrive?

Your print is carefully packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. It is sandwiched between two rigid, sturdy cardboard sheets and tightly wrapped in folded, acid-free paper. This packaging method protects the print from bending and shocks during transit. The two cardboard sheets are securely taped together, preventing the print from falling out.

Please note that while the packaging is robust, it is not indestructible. As with any shipped item, the shipping company is responsible for handling the package with reasonable care.

Can I have my print framed?

We are not offering a framing service for the 1,000 unique "Trees of Life" art prints due to our global customer base and the usually high packaging and shipping costs that get added to protect a framed print with glass needed during shipping. Ensuring the safe arrival of your fine art print is our top priority, and we are concerned that a frame or glass could get damaged during worldwide shipping. Therefore, we will send the fine art prints securely packed in acid-free paper and sandwiched between sturdy cardboard.

Made to order, non-refundable

The Tree of Life art prints is made to order. That means that the print is only made because of your order. Next to that, every print is unique. For these reasons, the prints are non-refundable and by purchasing a print you waive your right to return the print.

NFT are digital certificated registered on the blockchain. Once an NFT is minted, it can never be un-minted. When you purchase a Tree of Life print, your NFT is minted close to the purchase date. For this reason it is not possible to return an NFT.

What is a giclée art print?

A giclée print is a high-quality print of an artwork, created using a professional printer. The term "giclée" comes from the French word meaning "to spray," referring to how the printer applies the ink. These prints use archival-quality inks and papers, ensuring exceptional color accuracy and longevity. Giclée prints are commonly used for fine art reproductions and photography, offering a stunning color range and intensity.

The Tree of Life prints are printed using archival inks on 100% archival cotton fine art paper.

Will my print be shipped and how?

Yes your print will be shipped to you. The price of shipping is included in the purchase price.

When you receive your fine art print, it will be carefully packed to ensure its safety during transit. First, we wrap the print in special acid-free paper to protect it from any potential damage or degradation. Next, the print is sandwiched between sturdy cardboard layers, providing additional support and preventing bending or creasing. This meticulous packaging process ensures that your fine art print arrives in perfect condition, ready to be enjoyed and displayed.

An international courier service will ship the print to the address you provided during checkout.

Why are you planting trees?

From the start, Joseph Klibansky has incorporated trees into his artworks, often blending them with bustling city scenes. As early as 2009 Klibansky created “Asia by Night” and later “Overgrown” in 2011 among other work, his vision is clearly visible. His goal is to highlight how we are pushing nature aside in our relentless pursuit of expansion. By depicting a utopian vision of metropolitan cities coexisting harmoniously with nature, he aims to raise awareness and provoke thought in the viewer.

Through our project “Tree of Life” we will plant 10 trees in the amazon rain forest for every sold Tree of Life print. In total we aim to plant 10.000 trees. The tree will be planted through our partner “One Tree Planted”.

One Tree Planted is a charity focused on global reforestation efforts. They simplify the process of tree planting by working with local communities, businesses, and governments to plant trees in areas that need them most. For every dollar donated, they plant one tree, aiming to restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive environmental impact. Their projects span across continents, addressing issues like deforestation, forest fire recovery, and ecological restoration. Through education and hands-on involvement, One Tree Planted also raises awareness about the importance of trees for a healthier planet.
